Lead Barista — Artisan Bakehouse (Bellevue, WA)

Location: Bellevue, WA • Type: Full-Time • Target Start: September 2025

Love coffee culture and want to grow your career with an international bakery/coffee brand?

This is your chance to bring your passion, craft, and leadership to BA’s very first U.S. location — and help us set the tone for specialty coffee in Bellevue.

About Us:

BA is an artisan bakery devoted to the craft of baking — and now, coffee. With over 10 years of refinement and more than 40 locations worldwide, BA is bringing its first U.S. flagship to Bellevue, pairing world-class breads and pastries with a specialty coffee program.

We respect the craft, the farmers, and the guests we serve. From carefully sourced beans to consistent latte art, our baristas embody both speed and hospitality. We’re here to deliver a coffee experience that matches the artistry of our bakery.

We’re seeking a Lead Barista to guide our bar team, ensure consistency in every cup, and elevate our coffee program from day one.

The Role

As Lead Barista, you’ll be the head of our coffee bar, balancing hands-on drink preparation with training, organization, and leadership. You’ll build systems, coach baristas, and work closely with management and FOH to ensure our coffee program shines alongside our bakery.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Bar. Direct daily coffee operations, keeping service smooth and quality uncompromising.

Craft Drinks. Master espresso, pour-over, milk texturing, and latte art; set the standard for speed and precision.

Quality & Safety. Enforce sanitation, cleanliness, and health standards; model ServSafe and WA State requirements.

Train & Mentor. Onboard and coach baristas, build training guides, and provide feedback to support growth.

Plan & Organize. Manage coffee bar inventory, track stock with xtrachef (ERP), and oversee ordering and rotation.

Cross-Team Communication. Coordinate with bakery production and FOH to align drink offerings with pastry sales; use Slack and Toast for smooth service and guest feedback.

Daily Ops. Maintain bar cleanliness, calibrate equipment, and ensure every guest interaction reflects BA’s hospitality.

Requirements

3+ years of barista experience in a high-volume specialty coffee environment.

1+ years in a leadership or lead barista role.

Proficiency in espresso dialing, latte art, milk texturing, and alternative brewing methods.

Comfortable directing a team and communicating clearly during peak service.

Familiarity with Toast POS (for menu availability and sales feedback).

Experience with inventory/ordering systems such as xtrachef (ERP) preferred.

ServSafe or WA Food Worker Card (or willingness to obtain).

Strong organizational skills; punctual and reliable.

Able to lift up to 40 lbs (milk crates, coffee bags) and work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Bonus Points If You…

Love coffee science and enjoy geeking out about extraction and flavor notes.

Have experience building or launching a coffee program.

Thrive in a supportive but fast-paced team environment.

Why Work With Us

Be part of a first. Bellevue is BA’s first U.S. store; you’ll help set the standard for our coffee program.

Dynamic, supportive team environment. Join a collaborative, upbeat culture where bakers, baristas, and FOH staff support each other.

Growth with BA. As BA expands across the U.S., strong performers can move into Head Barista, Coffee Program Manager, or cross-functional leadership roles — even contributing to global coffee initiatives.
